After attending the young SVP conference in Knock Shrine earlier in the year, we were eager to get Paddy from SVP to visit the school and give us the neccessary tools to set up a Society Of St.Vincent De Paul in the school.
Paddy spoke to us on Wednesday 11th October, about what is involved in setting up our very own SVP in the school and how we would go about doing so. He explained about the project involved in it for example visiting the nursing home or helping the elderly and I must say the response from our Transition Year classes were very positive. After talking to different students after the talk, everyone was pretty enthused with the idea of completing this project and setting up a young SVP group in Portumna Community School.
I think this talk really helped us organise what we have to do to establish a Young SVP group in the school and it equipped us with the necessary tools to complete our project.
